Druid Leveling Guide – Balance or Feral For Fastest Leveling Spec?

Making the decision to level as feral or balance spec is no easy task. Primarily it comes down to a matter of playstyles. If you are more interested in dealing melee DPS and having the option of filling either the tank or DPS role in groups, feral is probably your best bet. However, if you prefer to deal damage from range, and you’d like to have the option to heal in groups, you would be better off with balance.Either way, make sure to use a druid leveling guide so you can take the optimal route through the content.

If you don’t have a preferred playstyle and all you want is to level in the most efficient way possible, feral is your better bet. Feral is the more efficient choice for the reasons listed below:

1) Less time spent drinking – As a feral druid, you will not have to worry about mana nearly as often as a balance druid. Feral really only uses mana for self-healing and switching forms. Balance druids burn mana with every action they take, and spend a lot of time drinking as a result.

2) Tanks get groups even faster than healers – With a feral spec, you have the option to tank for groups. Since tanking is the most difficult job in the group, you can often get a group even faster than you would as a healer. Druid tanks are great at all levels, and don’t even require an extra gear set for tanking until around level 70, and if you are willing to tank you will get groups faster than you would in any other role.

3) Easier to obtain gear – Feral druids use the same gear as rogues, focusing on Agility, Strength, and Stamina. This gear exists throughout the game in abundance, and is easily obtained through questing and dungeons. It’s much harder to find leather gear with caster stats until outland, and even then there’s a bit of a shortage. Feral druids have a much easier time keeping their gear up to date, and as such, they can tear through mobs faster and level more quickly.

Now, this is without even touching on the fact that feral is the better PVP spec, allows you to solo elite quests, and many other points. If you don’t have any real restrictions as far as playstyle goes, go with Feral. You’ll enjoy it. Happy prowling
